Tottenham Hotspur: Fans slam Philippe Coutinho as transfer news emerges

Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for Philippe Coutinho after Bayern Munich revealed they won’t activate their option to sign him permanently, via Football Insider.
Some of the Premier League’s top clubs have been monitoring Coutinho and Spurs have asked to be kept informed of his availability heading into the summer.
A source told Football Insider La Liga giants Barcelona consider the playmaker surplus to requirements, and his parent club are looking to offload him before the start of next season, either by way of another loan or a permanent move at a significantly reduced price.
Whether or not Daniel Levy decides to make a substantial offer for the Brazilian international is another matter altogether.
Indeed, he has struggled to replicate the form that earned him plenty of plaudits at Liverpool, highlighted by the fact that Bayern do not wish to make his loan move permanent in the summer transfer window.
Who should Daniel Levy sign in the summer?
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Philippe Coutinho
Spurs have also been linked to Southampton star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is three years younger than his Brazilian counterpart, but ticks plenty of boxes for Tottenham.
The former Liverpool ace’s weaknesses lie in defensive contributions, whereas Hojbjerg’s strengths include winning aerial duels and intercepting passes.
It is fair to say Coutinho’s career is at the crossroads and it is unlikely Levy would be willing to splash the cash and take a risk on the midfielder.
Unsurprisingly, loads of Spurs fans slammed the 27-year-old as the transfer news emerged, with a supporter branding him a “waste of money” as he isn’t what they need at this moment, whilst another added “he’s finished” at the top level. One fan even suggested there is “no chance” the board will sign him.
Scroll through some of the scathing reactions…
Please NO. He's finished at the top level. And even if he wasn't, he's the anti type of a mourinho playmaker. Hardly any defensive output or pressing ability.

We need Koulibaly, Aarons and Hojbjerg not Coutinho… Waste of money, we are backed upfront

More chance of snow falling in Dubai in summer.

Why would we consider wasting money on another attacking player? We should be only going for a back up striker and defenders including cdm this window.
