According to an update courtesy of L’Equipe, via Sport Witness, FC Metz striker Habib Diallo is ‘on the move’ and a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur ‘remains his priority’ – especially after the 6ft 1 colossus was left on the bench against Stade de Reims.
Reportedly unsettled in Ligue 1, Diallo has been set to leave for some time as per this update, with Spurs currently heading the queue given his reported desire to sign in north London.
Reliable Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold confirmed that Diallo was being considered as a potential option as back-up to star striker Harry Kane, and his meagre £10.8 million valuation could prove to be an enticing prospect after the Lilywhites’ recent business.
Should Tottenham snap up Habib Diallo next?
No, better options out there
Indeed, after making five marquee signings already this summer, including Sergio Reguilon (permanent) and Gareth Bale (loan) from Real Madrid, Tottenham may be looking to offload some squad members before taking to the market again.
As confirmed by the Athletic journalist David Ornstein, the most likely players facing a potential axe could be Danny Rose, Juan Foyth, Paulo Gazzaniga, Serge Aurier and Ryan Sessegnon as chairman Daniel Levy looks to balance the books before reinforcing.
However, a new striker and centre-back is on the agenda, with Gold also recently reporting that Spurs have their eyes on a number of potential targets this window.
Diallo, at least according to this report, may well be one of them – and given his impressive 38-goal haul over the last two seasons for Metz, he could be a bargain buy waiting to happen.
