Speaking to Sky Sports, via the Metro, after Tottenham’s 1-0 away win at Burnley on Monday night, pundit Jamie Carragher tipped both Liverpool and Man City to swoop for Spurs star Son Heung-min if either Raheem Sterling or Sadio Mane departed their clubs.
Son, who has been a revelation for the north Londoners this season, forming a deadly partnership with striker Harry Kane, linked up yet again with the Englishman during Spurs’ narrow victory at Turf Moor.
Carragher tips Son swoop
Speaking on his stellar form, Sky pundit Jamie Carragher tipped both City and Liverpool to sign the player if one of Sterling or Mane leaves – with the ex-Red going on to hint that he would be the ideal replacement for either star.
“If Sterling or Mane left one of those clubs you’d think Son would be one of the first players Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp would go for,” explained Carragher.
Football Insider report that Tottenham are looking to avoid that scenario at all costs, with discussions ongoing over a new contract worth a reported £52 million.
Early in 2019, Son declared his happiness at Spurs but also admitted he ‘came close to leaving’, as per Dan Kilpatrick in the Evening Standard, with Liverpool and City now tipped to potentially swoop in the future.
Transfer Tavern take
Given his recent form alongside Kane, it appears a very lofty fee would be needed to convince Daniel Levy.
