According to a report from Football Insider, both manager Jose Mourinho and chairman Daniel Levy are ‘in agreement’ that a new striker is still on the agenda as the October 5 transfer window deadline looms – with Tottenham having been linked to a plethora of forward options.
After securing the signings of both Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon in a sensational double swoop, Levy and Mourinho have reached a consensus over their hunt for a new forward as sources close to Football Insider understand.
The Daily Express most recently reported that Wolfsburg attacker Wout Weghorst is a name on the list, especially after missing out on a fair few star-studded names who either opted to stay or join another club.
Which striker would you prefer to sign?
Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins were on the agenda before the English duo completed alternative Premier League moves, meanwhile Patson Daka and Arkadiusz Milik didn’t come to Spurs for differing reasons (The Express).
The Red Bull Salzburg sensation has reportedly opted to stay in Austria for another season to continue his development, as confirmed by agent and ex-Tottenham forward Frederic Kanoute.
Milik however looks set to join AS Roma as a replacement for Edin Dzeko who is heading to Juventus, with the likes of Weghorst and any other potential alternatives now being monitored by Levy and co.
Given the lack of forward depth behind Harry Kane, this Football Insider report claiming Spurs’ next target will be a striker could be music to the ears of many Lilywhites supporters – but only time will tell as to who Tottenham eventually land to fill the gaping hole up front.
