Speaking in a press conference before tonight’s encounter with Fulham, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed the latest update on ‘phenomenal‘ star Giovani Lo Celso – going on to say ‘he’s injured‘ and still withdrawn to the sidelines, coming after the ‘big blow’ that he is expected to miss significant time.
Lo Celso had been contributing effectively in the number 10 role for Spurs this season, becoming a major threat for Spurs behind a traditional attacking front three of Steven Bergwijn, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.
Spurs without Lo Celso
He rotated with fellow reformed star Tanguy Ndombele, but now Mourinho only has the Frenchman to utilise in that position following a ‘big blow’ to the Argentine.
Confirming the latest, Mourinho revealed ‘he’s injured’ and still won’t return for weeks – with no early return in sight despite some potential hopes from supporters.
Transfer Tavern take
As a result, he is now confirmed to miss Fulham this evening, but it remains to be seen how Spurs will choose to line up without him or indeed when he will actually return.
The most likely scenario could be Ndombele in that number 10 role for Mourinho which has worked so well, just behind Bergwijn, Kane and Son again.
The rearranged trip to west London could be crucial as Spurs look to overtake both Everton and Leicester City and climb back into the top four.
