Writing for football.london, journalist Jamie Kemble has relayed a ‘nightmare‘ scenario for Tottenham Hotspur surrounding the future of summer signing Sergio Reguilon – with Spanish outlet Marca claiming that Zinedine Zidane is safe for now but a decision is set to be made at the end of the season.
Recent reports detailed that while Zidane is at the Galacticos helm, it is unlikely Reguilon will re-join the Galacticos through his inserted buy-back clause (Diario AS), but now a fresh update from another source in Spain has detailed that Zidane’s future at the conclusion of 2020/2021 very much hangs in the balance.
Reguilon concern emerges for Spurs
According to Marca, the Galacticos are currently aware a change in management has to be made but will keep Zidane on until the end of season – with the club apparently wanting to launch a ‘fresh project’ when the current La Liga campaign comes to a close.
Kemble, writing for football.london, has explained why this could pose to be a worry for Tottenham – going on to say that whoever comes in next could very well opt to re-sign Reguilon given his impressive performances in north London and the infamous buy-back clause.
Transfer Tavern take
Labelling it a ‘nightmare‘ scenario, the journalist has fired a warning that this could come as a worry for Spurs given how the 24-year-old has taken to life in north London.
The activated buy-back clause would place both Mourinho and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in a precarious position considering both men would be powerless to stop his exit back to La Liga.
As Zidane’s future hangs in the balance, with Marca hinting it is likely he could leave in the summer, the same could be said for Reguilon depending on the Frenchman’s would-be replacement – and Lilywhites will be hoping whoever the new Madrid boss is won’t come knocking.
In other news: Daniel Levy is allegedly ‘queuing up’ to sign this ace, find out more here.
