Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Said Benrahma from Brentford this summer, reports say.

The Bees are set to break up their renowned 'BMW' front three having been beaten by Fulham in the Championship play-off final on Tuesday.

Benrahma, Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins scored 59 goals between them to lift Brentford within reach of Premier League promotion last season.

However, they agonisingly fell short against Fulham, who beat them 2-1 at Wembley in added extra time.

The Algerian playmaker wants to play in the top flight, which means the Bees will not sell one of their other prized possessions as a result.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign the left-winger, amid interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Leeds United and West Ham.

Spurs may have the advantage already, as Arsenal are trying to sign Blues winger Willian, while the Blues have bought Hakim Ziyech from Ajax as well.

The Mirror claims the £25m-rated attacking midfielder could be available for as little as £16m, with the Bees set to make a tidy profit considering they only paid Nice a mere £2.7m in 2018.

Benrahma was one of the best players in Thomas Frank's side last term, having scored 17 goals and supplied 9 assists in the Championship (via WhoScored).

He fully deserves the chance to step-up to another level of competition, as he has shown he has so many different elements to his playing style.

The Algerian is more than capable of playing for a top-six side, he just needs the opportunity to prove himself. Spurs have shown they can give players from lower leagues a platform to excel, as Daniel Levy's decision to sign Dele Alli has turned out to be a masterstroke.
