Tottenham have enquired about the availability of Real Madrid ace Achraf Hakimi, according to an exclusive from 90min.
Hakimi has spent the past two seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund and has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world.
He is widely expected to return to the Bernabeu in the summer, although Dortmund are desperate to sign him on a permanent deal, amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
The Premier League trio have all registered their interest in the youngster and Spurs could have a battle on their hands if they wish to bring him to north London.
After arriving at the Signal Iduna Park from Madrid on loan, Hakimi has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest talents. Indeed, the Moroccan has made 70 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, bagging 12 goals and creating 17 assists in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).
The 21-year-old has played 30 games in the German top flight this season, scoring 5 goals, creating 10 assists, making 1.9 tackles per game, averaging 1.1 shots, and producing at least 1 key pass on average (via WhoScored).
He has even been dubbed the “next Carvajal” in reference to the legendary Spanish defender.
It is hardly surprising the Morocco international has attracted so much attention from a number of suitors, given his performances up until now.
As things stand, Jose Mourinho is in the hunt for a new right-back, as he has been left to rely on Serge Aurier for the majority of his reign so far. The Portuguese lacks options on the right flank, as he has had to force Japhet Tanganga out of position to provide cover for the Ivorian.
Hakimi would certainly be a dream signing to make, but he is (sadly) unlikely to be anything more than that in the summer.
In reality, Mourinho is well aware he will be restricted by a tight budget, and the Moroccan will surely be outside his price range, as his stock has risen dramatically over the past couple of seasons.
While there is no doubt the £48.6m-valued ace would be a valuable asset for the squad, it is hard to believe Daniel Levy will be willing to splash the cash due to the economic uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus crisis.
