Tottenham Hotspur remains the most likely destination for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik ahead of the transfer deadline, that is according to a report from Calciomercato via @Daily_Hotspur.
The 26-year-old has entered the final year of his contract in Naples and as a result the club are keen to offload him now in order to avoid losing him for free at the end of the campaign.
He was close to a move to fellow Serie A outfit Roma earlier in the window, but that deal fell through.
Since then, several Premier League clubs have been linked with the Pole, including Spurs, Manchester United and Everton. However, this latest report suggests that a move to north London remains most likely and that the club held positive talks with the player last week.
Milik is a striker with a very decent record, having netted 48 times in 122 appearances for Napoli including 14 in the 19/20 campaign. Added to that, the £28.8m-valued man also bagged an impressive 47 strikes in just 75 appearances for Ajax, notching up a total of 109 goals in his club career to date (Transfermarkt).
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he still wants two more signings before the deadline, despite the arrivals of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale.
One of the positions he wants to fill is centre-forward, as he seeks back-up to star man Harry Kane. Milik may well be the man to fit the bill for the Portuguese boss and it does now seem that if the Poland international does leave the San Paolo Stadium this summer, north London will be his destination.
