Tottenham Hotspur would be the perfect choice for Lille striker Victor Osimhen, according to Gabriele Marcotti via The Daily Express

Osimhen has been linked to Tottenham and Arsenal after an impressive debut season in Ligue 1. Indeed, after arriving from RSC Charleroi for £10.8m last summer, the youngster has scored 18 goals for Lille in all competitions so far.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new striker to provide injury cover for Harry Kane.

Speaking on the Gab and Juls podcast, Marcotti pointed out the obvious similarities between the two players. He added he could even see the duo playing together in the future.

The football expert said: "I think he would be a tremendous fit for Spurs because in terms of style of play, I'm not saying he's as good, but there are obvious parallels with Harry Kane there.

"He could play with Kane, he could play when Kane is not available.

"Osimhen, Kane, Son, Lucas Moura, Bergwijn, that's a ton of firepower. Obviously Mourinho's got good links with that club, so we'll see."

As it stands, it is easy to compare the two strikers.

Despite his young age, the 21-year-old has quickly made up for his lack of experience. Indeed, Osimhen has netted 13 goals in Ligue 1, creating 4 assists and taking 3.2 shots per game (WhoScored). Furthermore, he is the club's leading goalscorer this season (BBC).

In comparison, Kane has bagged 11 goals in the Premier League for Mourinho's side at the time of writing, and is the Lilywhites' top scorer so far, despite the fact he suffered a hamstring injury.

However, ESPN correspondent Julien Laurens revealed Lille are asking for somewhere in the region of the £72m they received from Arsenal for Nicolas Pepe last year.

Whether or not Daniel Levy splashes the cash remains to be seen, given the economic uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, but the Nigerian would certainly be an ideal alternative for Kane in the future.
