Who would have been Spurs' ideal summer defensive signing?
Chase for Joe Rodon
Both the Swans and Tottenham are attempting to get a deal signed, sealed and delivered before 5pm this afternoon, with the Championship club apparently holding out for £15m. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to pay over the £10m mark, resulting in both clubs needing to find a compromise before the deadline today.
Starting 43 Championship matches since 2018, Rodon has become a Swansea mainstay and a stable part of their backline, leaving little wonder why they are demanding £15m for his services.
Meanwhile, with talks are still ongoing, the 22-year-old could reportedly be ‘excited‘ over the prospect of joining Spurs as hinted by his manager. Describing the Premier League and, by extension, Tottenham as ‘another level‘ above, Cooper has relayed Rodon’s potential eagerness over a last-minute north London move.
Transfer Tavern take
Given these updates, it’s no secret that Rodon would be up for a move, but as the two clubs continue talks, settling on a price and getting a deal done before 5pm could still hang in the balance.
Tottenham fans, how likely is it Rodon will be a Spurs player after 5pm? Have your say in the comments section below…
