Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from West Bromwich Albion for reported transfer target Habib Diallo, that is according to The Sun (via Birmingham Mail).
Indeed, it is suggested that the Baggies are in talks with Metz over a deal for the 25-year-old with Slaven Bilic keen on bringing in a striker before the deadline on October 5.
Spurs have also been linked with a move for Diallo during the current transfer window as Jose Mourinho desperately searches for some back-up and competition for talismanic striker Harry Kane.
Several targets as well as the Senegalese international have mooted for Tottenham, including Arkadiusz Milik of Napoli and RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka.
However, The Sun report that Metz are willing to allow Diallo to leave on loan for the current campaign as long as a £20 million fee is agreed for the move to become permanent next summer. This could well appeal to Daniel Levy, as it would give him more time to get the funds together in these uncertain times due to the impact of the pandemic.
During his time with the Ligue 1 club, the striker has a very decent goal scoring record. Indeed he has netted a total of 48 strikes in 115 appearances for the club, including 12 in the 19/20 campaign (Transfermarkt).
Whilst a move to the Hawthorns could appeal to the former Stade Brest 29 loanee, it has previously been suggested that he would be eager to link up with Mourinho in north London.
If Spurs are serious about signing Diallo, they may need to make their move soon in order to avoid missing out given Albion appear to now be locked in negotiations.
