Speaking to Ajansspor, Tottenham target Zeki Celik’s has claimed that Daniel Levy and co ‘want’ to sign him along with La Liga giants Sevilla, at least according to his former boss Yalçın Koşukavak – with the coach going on to relay his words that there is interest from the Lilywhites as they make moves to land their sixth summer signing.
Indeed, as per numerous updates, Spurs are not done in the transfer market even after completing deals for the likes of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon in a sensational double swoop a fortnight ago – with Celik apparently still on the agenda according to the player himself via his ex-boss.
Celik, who has been targeted recently by Tottenham as a bargain full-back, valued at around £14.4 million by Transfermarkt, could leave Lille if a ‘testimonial fee‘ is paid this summer – with the exact amount so far being undeclared.
Starting 23 matches for the Ligue 1 side last season, Celik averaged an impressive 2.3 tackles per 90 whilst bombing forward on the overlap to assist two of his teammates in that time.
Now, given his exploits in France, Sevilla and Spurs are reportedly after him and the player has now explained to his ex-coach that Levy is potentially interested in snapping him up – especially considering the 23-year-old models his game off ex-Spur Kyle Walker.
Indeed, speaking in a candid interview with Turkish website Ajansspor, Koşukavak claimed that Tottenham ‘want’ the player and could be willing to reignite their interest despite signing full-backs Matt Doherty and Reguilon this window.
Whether or not this rumour comes to fruition remains to be seen, but it could be an interesting to see unfold before October 5.
