Tottenham Hotspur are now firmly in the mix to sign Lyon star Lucas Paqueta for manager Antonio Conte this summer, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Spurs keep moving...

The Lilywhites, after Conte sealed a top four Premier League finish and subsequent qualification for the Champions League, have been very busy this summer as they aim to back the Italian ahead of his first full season in charge.

Indeed, Spurs have completed the signings of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence and it is believed they remain in the market for a creative midfielder.

The likes of James Maddison (Leicester City) and Nicolo Zaniolo (Roma) have been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and it is now believed Paqueta has come back on to the radar.

The Latest: Tottenham 'most credible' option for Paqueta...

Reports from France state that the Lyon star is now a firm option for Spurs after their January bid in excess of €40 million (£33m) was rejected.

L'Equipe (via GFFN) now claim the north Londoners are among the frontrunners for Paqueta and have emerged as a 'most credible' option for the Brazilian.

Manchester City are also in the mix.

The Verdict: Make a move?

Back in the winter window, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed it would take a €80m (£68m) fee to prise Paqueta away from Ligue 1 but he may well be worth the investment.

Called 'sensational' by Newcastle United podcaster Dave Harvey amid links to the Magpies, the South American ace finished last year as one of Lyon's best-performing players by average match rating whilst bagging nine goals and six assists domestically (WhoScored).

He's also been called a potentially 'huge signing' for Spurs by journalist Pete O'Rourke and we believe Paqueta would be a real statement of intent by sporting director Fabio Paratici.
