Indeed, Maghoma has not been the only rising star to depart north London with winger Sam Amo-Ameyaw joining the Saints from Tottenham last week.

The latter man, called ‘really exciting’ by Spurs academy pundits, put pen to paper on a deal at St. Mary’s as their owners Sport Republic seemingly continue their ‘buy young’ business model.

Hotspur Way’s glistening academy has garnished quite the reputation in recent seasons, having also developed some extremely promising assets like Dane Scarlett (currently on loan at Portsmouth) and midfield gem Oliver Skipp.

The Latest: Tottenham lose Meghoma…

Now, as relayed by The Athletic, Southampton have confirmed the signing of Meghoma from Tottenham on a scholarship deal.

The England Under-17 international joins Amo-Ameyaw on the south coast and explains exactly why he has elected to join Southampton.

Indeed, Meghoma says it’s due to their ‘very clear pathway’ for youth into the first team.

The Verdict: Lilywhites loss?

Perhaps losing two youngsters in the space of a fortnight could be slightly concerning from a Spurs perspective.

Spurs fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the season against Man City?

Journalist Graeme Bailey has lauded Meghoma as an England youth ‘star’ alongside Amo-Ameyaw with Saints head of youth recruitment Dan Rice calling the player an ‘exciting’ and ‘excellent’ acquisition.

Having already garnered quite a reputation among club officials and members of the media, will losing the left-back come as a regret for Spurs in future seasons?
