According to Gazzetta dello Sport, incoming Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici wants to make Adrien Rabiot his first signing at the club.
The Lowdown: Paratici to join Spurs
Paratici recently left Juventus after spending more than a decade as the club’s sporting director.
He is now set to take up the same role with the Lilywhites as Daniel Levy and co plan for a busy summer (football.london), with some reports claiming his appointment could even be confirmed this week.
The Latest: Paratici wants Rabiot
Now, it is being reported in Italy that Paratici is eager to make Rabiot his first signing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The report claims Paratici is a ‘connoisseur of talents’ who can find players anywhere, but is also expected to shop around at his former club this summer.
It is said that new boss Massimiliano Allegri could be ready to part ways with Rabiot, who has been called up to Euro 2020 by France manager Didier Deschamps.
The Verdict: Worth it?
Rabiot is clearly a player with plenty of talent. He made 227 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain before transferring to Juventus, and he featured 34 times in Serie A last season as Juve just about qualified for the Champions League (Transfermarkt).
Would you like to sign Rabiot?
The £27m-valued 24-year-old (Transfermarkt), though, has had his fair share of controversies.
He was suspended for two weeks by PSG in 2019 for attending a night club after his side lost to Manchester United in the Champions League, while he refused to be a stand-by player for France when not initially selected as part of the 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup (The Guardian).
Clearly a very good player, he may be more trouble than he’s worth for a new manager at Spurs trying to implement their philosophies in what is likely to be a challenging first season at the helm.
In other news, Tottenham have been offered this Premier League star.
