Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a summer move for Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has seen his market value soar over the last couple of seasons after spending time with Sheffield United, where he kept an impressive 13 clean sheets in 36 appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.
Consistent performances saw the English stopper gain many plaudits before returning to parent club Manchester United, where talks over his immediate future are said to be a ‘critical stage’.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently has David de Gea as his number one and it is unknown whether or not Henderson would have a starting role with the Red Devils.
With the goalkeeper’s future now up for debate, Mourinho is said to be interested in him, with Catalan media outlet Mundo Deportivo claiming that the Portuguese wants to provide competition for French World Cup winner Hugo Lloris at Tottenham.
Chelsea are also said to be interested but a recent report claimed that Frank Lampard’s side were yet to make any official contact with United over a potential bid.
Whoever signs Henderson will be getting a superb, Premier League-proven option in between the sticks and one that they could seemingly rely on for years to come.
The former Shrewsbury Town loanee has hugely impressed over the last 12 months and his interest from a number of clubs is extremely warranted. As a long-term successor to Lloris, Tottenham could do a lot worse.
