# Tottenham will be forced to break club-record should they sign reported target

**It promises to be another big summer for Tottenham Hotspur, despite a wonderful season for Mauricio Pochettino and his men. While Spurs are undoubtedly one of the best sides in the Premier League, their wait for a major trophy goes on.**

For the punters propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, the north London outfit need but a few more additions to be considered genuine challengers in the Premier League, with many of them hoping to see Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha arrive.

The Ivory Coast international has been in wonderful form for the Eagles this season and is thought to have [previously been a target](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/767384/Tottenham-news-Crystal-Palace-Wilfried-Zaha-relegation-exclusive-latest-gossip) for those at White Hart Lane. Still, reports from [the Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/palace-will-demand-40m-for-in-form-zaha-v0qgclsx0) have split opinion amongst the Spurs fans in the bar.

They [claim](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/palace-will-demand-40m-for-in-form-zaha-v0qgclsx0) Palace value the former Manchester United winger at a whopping [£40m](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/palace-will-demand-40m-for-in-form-zaha-v0qgclsx0), a figure that would make him Spurs’ record signing should they make that deal. Undoubtedly a talented player, the 24-year-old hasn’t wholly convinced some of our drinkers he’s worth such a big fee.

While Tottenham are [reportedly](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/palace-will-demand-40m-for-in-form-zaha-v0qgclsx0) expected to make another offer for Zaha, it’s [thought](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/palace-will-demand-40m-for-in-form-zaha-v0qgclsx0) to be unlikely it would match that valuation.
