# Transfer Flashbacks: Bradley Dack

## Transfer flashback:

After dropping down into the third tier of English football at the end of the 2016/17 season, Blackburn moved into the transfer market with the intention of building a squad for a promotion charge.

And one player who was deemed of the calibre needed to return to the Championship was Gillingham’s Bradley Dack, as Blackburn completed a transfer worth [£750,000](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40422771) to bring him to Ewood Park.

Here’s how the supporters initially reacted to Dack’s arrival…

> Would of took all 3 signings in the championship let alone league 1, certainly fixed a problem area from last season. Welcome [@BradDacks40](https://twitter.com/BradDacks40?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)!!

Although the initial hype was far from overwhelming, there were clearly a handful of supporters who were expecting big things from the playmaker.

Dack experienced a rather indifferent opening to the campaign as he failed to find the back of the net or provide an assist from his first six fixtures in League One, but he began to reveal the full extent of his attacking quality when he opened his account against Shrewsbury at New Meadow.

That strike would represent the first of a whopping 18 in the league during Blackburn’s successful promotion charge, and he also provided 9 assists along the way.

A reasonable sceptic would have been well within their rights to have questioned his ability to replicate that level of potency in the Championship, but those sceptics have already been forced to eat their words by his blistering start to the season.

With 6 goals and 2 assists from 9 Championship appearances already, the 24-year-old has proven that he is much more than just a one season wonder.

If Blackburn want to hold their own this season and steer well clear of a relegation battle then they will need Dack on top form.

Dack may not have been regarded as a game-changing acquisition when he was signed by Blackburn, but with the benefit of hindsight it’s fair to say that his arrival was a game-changer in the context of the club’s recent history.
