Sheffield Wednesday managed to end Achraf Lazaar’s Newcastle United nightmare temporarily on Deadline Day in the January transfer window as they signed him on a loan deal until the end of the season.
It is not difficult to understand that the Morocco international is relishing the opportunity to get back to playing senior football on a regular basis after having to spend time with the Under-23s with the Premier League outfit.
And, the 27-year-old believes he has made the right move to Sheffield Wednesday, believing it was the ‘perfect choice’ for him and has admitted he believes ‘it feels like home already’.
“I talked to my agent and I looked at what was the best choice for me,” he told The Sheffield Star.
“I didn’t think about other offers. I think Sheffield Wednesday was the perfect choice and I’m so happy here.
“I think I’m in the right team. The group is hard-working and we hope to have some big results.
“My team-mates and the manager have helped me a lot.
“It feels like home already. It is great to be here.
“I am going to give everything for the shirt because this club has given me the chance.”
Lazaar certainly appears to have been delighted with the opportunity that Sheffield Wednesday have offered him and looks determined to make the most of it, which can only be a good thing for The Owls this season.
The 27-year-old is yet to make his debut for the club since joining, although that largely appears to be down to the fact that the defence has seriously improved since Steve Bruce took over the reins at Hillsborough.
However, the Morocco international has experience of playing in the Championship with Newcastle and once he gets his opportunity, he will look take it with both hands.
