Agent denies reports of new deal for Leeds United star

Alex MowattThe Leeds United fans who are gathered at the bar supping a few pints in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that contract negotiations with one of their younger players are still up in the air.

Football Insider is reporting that the agent of midfielder Alex Mowatt has stated that the youngster is nowhere near agreeing a new deal with the Championship club.

The news will upset the fans of the Leeds United fans, who were assured by manager Steve Evans that negotiations with Mowatt were close to a conclusion prior to the sides 4-0 hammering at Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday night.

Mowatt has come through the academy at the club and has made taken the step up to the first team football in his stride and has been a bright point in what has been another disappointing season for the Elland Road club.

When asked about extending the wingers contract, Mowatt’s agent Mark Rankine was quick to pour water on Evans comments saying “There has been absolutely no approach from Leeds with regards to Alex’s future.

“Nobody has spoken to me or Alex about it.”

The Leeds fans in The Tavern are disappointed by Evans and his comments about Mowett and can see the player leaving the club sooner rather than later.

Leeds fans, does Evans need to go? Let us know in the comments below!
