Aitor Karanka names the positions he is prioritising this summer

Aitor Karanka has been busy improving his Nottingham Forest side ahead of the upcoming Championship season.

The former Middlesbrough manager has been working hard to make sure his side is in a position to challenge for a Premier League spot next summer with a number of additions that have been considered major coups.

However, it is being claimed that Karanka is not quite finished with his rebuilding efforts at the City Ground and the club could expect to see another couple of players to come through the doors in the weeks remaining.

According to a report in the Nottingham Post, the Spaniard has revealed that his priority is to bring a right-back and a defensive midfielder to the Tricky Trees this summer.

The media outlet has also revealed that Jack Colback remains his primary target for the midfield role, whilst Karanka is keen to add competition and a back-up to Tendayi Darikwa.

The Verdict:

Nottingham Forest’s rebuilding plans have been rather successful this summer and there will be plenty of optimism around the club that they may finally produce a charge for Premier League football this season.

The need for another right-back is necessary, whilst a defensive midfielder would certainly help to provide cover to a backline with a number of new additions already.
