Just as our dinner arrives at the Football Transfer Tavern and our conversation about one Barcelona forward ends, it soon turns to another after one of our regulars lets slip that the debate over Alexis Sanchez’ future is about to be resolved according to a story in Marca.
Alexis, like David Villa has been victim to injuries of late and has struggled somewhat, however the Chilean player is much more settled at the club than his rival forward and his representative Fernando Felicevich has even gone as far as to issue a statement over his future saying: “Alexis stays in Barcelona. Has no reason to leave. He is at the best team in the world.”
Alexis is certainly a starter when fit and his versatility is a major plus for Tito Vilanova, being able to play anywhere in the forward line, leading the 23-year-old who netted 11 times in La Liga last season to feel settled and happy at the club, wanting to “learn from Xavi and Messi, helping the club win more titles.”
The news is set to disappoint several sides around Europe, including Premier League side Liverpool who were interested in the forward.
