Arsenal set to surrender another Gunners star to Manchester City

Bacary Sagna Arsenal fans will be saying farewell to one of their players today but it may not be all that positive if rumours are to be true.

According to the Daily Mail, Bacary Sagna will end his Arsenal career and sign a deal with title winning Manchester City.

Sagna joins a growing list that have swapped the Emirates Stadium for the Etihad Stadium with Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Adebayor and Samir Nasri all doing it in the pass and Arsenal may need to start looking at why that is.

Frenchman Sagna is set to hold formal talks with the Champions next week but a contract looks set to be offered to the former 31-year-old Auxerre defender.

Arsenal paid €9 million for his signature in 2007 and he quickly became an ever present in Arsene Wengers’ side and scored his first goal against Chelsea that season, although the Gunners went on to lose 2-1 and Sagna went off injured.

But Sagna went on to play 213 times during his time at Arsenal over a period of five years scoring four goals in that time.

Arsenal fans. Should more have been done to try and keep Sagna at the club or is the rumoured £100,000 per week just too much for somebody his age? Let us know your thoughts below.
