Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been revelling in their side’s start to the Championship season, although they weren’t entirely pleased with their team’s latest result.
The Yorkshire giants picked up five victories from their opening seven league games to sit top of the division heading into the recent weekend, yet Thomas Christiansen’s men saw their unbeaten start come to an end at the Den, with Aiden O’Brien’s second half strike securing a 1-0 win for Millwall.
The Whites remain top of the pile but our resident Leeds supporters are under no allusions as to how tough it’s going to be for them this term, although they have received a boost as reports on Twitter from reliable journalist Alan Nixon has linked them with an Argentine starlet.
Getafe’s Emi Buendia, currently on loan at second tier side Cultural Leonesa, is reportedly of interest to Christiansen and the Leeds hierarchy, having scored once and laid on four assists in six games for the La Liga 2 outfit this term, two assists of which came in their recent 3-2 success over Huesca.
And with many goals for Getafe’s B team in the last few years, the 20-year-old forward clearly has much promise – promise that Christiansen’s Leeds seemingly feel could be fulfilled in English football with the Championship side.
Landlord’s verdict: New head coach Thomas Christiansen and the Leeds United hierarchy were busy over the summer overhauling the playing squad at Elland Road, with several arrivals intertwined with many outgoings.
And many of those new additions came in from abroad and, based on their start to the campaign, their scouting is at an extremely high level, so reports of interest in Argentine youngster Emi Buendia is again likely to intrigue Leeds fans.
The 20-year-old has made a fine start to his loan spell at Cultural Leonesa to further underline his credentials – credentials would could well enhance Leeds’ options as they seek a return to the Premier League.
