Transfer Rumours

Brazilian star duo want out of Milan

In recent days here at the Football Transfer Tavern we have been mulling over the future of AC Milan forward pair Alexandre Pato and Robinho, both of whom, according to Sky Sports have declared their intentions to leave the club this January transfer window.

AC Milan president Adriano Galliani has finally admitted what we have all known is about as inevitable as queues out of the supermarket car park on Christmas Eve and despite claiming just a few days ago that the club would do ‘everything in their power to keep the duo’, he has now confessed that: “We have two negotiations going on, both Pato and Robinho asked to leave Milan, and I know what will happen if they leave the club.”

As we dig into our mince pies, our landlord informs us that the pair are being chased by Brazilian-based clubs; Robinho by former club Santos and Pato by World Club Cup winners Corinthians. Whilst we had more than a sneaking suspicion that former Manchester City player Robinho was on his way, the future of 23-year-old Pato has been less sure, with the player linked to not only a future at Milan but also a host of clubs around Europe.

With Galliani currently in South America on a so-called ‘business trip’ which has been long planned, apparently it seems he has been aware for more than a couple of days that “the lads want to go home” and we can only assume that the president will be asking Santa for a couple of world class centre forwards – on Christmas Eve. Good luck!
