Transfer Rumours

Brazilian striker to remain at Milan?

It almost seemed a done deal to us at the Football Transfer Tavern but Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that the deal for Robinho to join Santos has fallen through.

The player was believed to be departing the Serie A side this month following compatriot Alexandre Pato out of the door. Yet now it sensationally seems that Robinho will have to remain at AC Milan for at least a little while longer.

AC are standing firm on the 10 million euro price tag they have slapped on the player, yet Santos will not pay over 9 million. Just how much the one million matters seems debatable, but it is certainly enough to curtail this expected transfer.

Robinho himself is so keen to leave he offered to lower his salary in order to rejoin Santos yet this was to no avail with Adriano Galliani claiming the player will now stay. Galliani also told Robinho to sort his form out and recapture some of the form that made him such a hot property in football. Robinho then responded by stating: “There is still nothing definitive or closed. I was and am willing to stoop (in terms of salary) to engage.”

Are AC Milan wise to keep a player who wants away so badly? Vote in our polls below.
