Charlton Athletic could be handed a significant transfer blow in January.
The Addicks have been performing well in League One this season under Lee Bowyer as they currently occupy a playoff spot in their attempts to win promotion to the Championship.
Jed Steer has been crucial to their efforts, having kept six clean sheets in his 18 appearances for the south London outfit.
However, it appears as though Charlton could have some bad news surrounding the goalkeeper.
The Villans have been dealt a blow with the injury to Orjan Nyland, whilst Andre Moreira is expected to be sent back to Atletico Madrid.
Lovre Kalinic will arrive, however, the Championship side are thinking about the possibility of bringing Steer back to provide cover.
Charlton will be disappointed to lose Steer in the winter transfer window and will be keen for Aston Villa to consider other options.
The Addicks have been enjoying some success this season with the 26-year-old playing a key role for the side with his performances.
Should the Villans recall him, Bowyer may need to turn to the transfer market himself, with just Dillon Phillips and Ashley Maynard-Brewer as his other options.
