Charlton in the race for Sam Lautenschutz

Charlton in the race for Sam Lautenschutz

Charlton Athletic have been putting together a fine run of form as they look to challenge for a promotion spot in League One.

The Addicks have gone six games unbeaten under Lee Bowyer and currently sit in sixth position as they head to Scunthorpe United on Tuesday evening.

However, it appears they could be about to battle some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs for one of Holland’s brightest talents.

According to a report by The Sun, Charlton are thought to hold an interest in Volendam’s Sam Lautenschutz.

The midfielder, who is just 15-years-old, is thought to have plenty of options available to him, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Ajax all credited with possible moves.

And, a decision could be made in the imminent future regarding Lautenschutz’s plans as it is claimed he will make one in the next month.

The Verdict:

Charlton will have a tough battle on their hands if they are to try and convince the teenager to join them at The Valley rather than go to one of the giant outfits thought to be interested.

At 15, a switch to a club like Chelsea, Ajax or Manchester City could be considered a dream move and ‘once in a lifetime’, however, it may not be best for Lautenschutz’s overall career.

This is something that Charlton could look to use to their advantage, as they would give Lautenschuzt a better chance of getting regular football, which in turn could help to aid his ability and development further.
