Our Middlesbrough fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for their side to get going this season in the Championship as they reckon that they’ll be well involved in the promotion fight.
The men from the Riverside did not have the best of times last year in the Premier League and were duly relegated but they have kept the majority of their good players so far and have also bought well.
They will, however, continue to worry about Ben Gibson’s future with the Express & Star claiming that West Brom are still eager to get a deal done for the player.
Our landlord reckons that West Brom should do all they can to sign Gibson as he really did prove himself to be of Premier League class last season for Boro.
His current side, though, should really try and get as much as possible for him in the current market and our landlord is of the opinion that the fee should be around £30 million.
Boro have shown this summer they have the finances to take on the best in the Championship in order to sign players and that kind of money would only strengthen their hand, even if it did mean their arguably best player was to leave.
