Derby County will be desperate to work their way back into the play-off places in the Championship, with their next challenge coming up at Pride Park on Wednesday night.
The Rams have certainly improved massively since Frank Lampard took charge but there’s still a number of things that need improving if the Chelsea legend is to take them to the Premier League.
Interestingly, it appears as if the Rams are eyeing a possible summer swoop, as according to The Sun (18th February, page 61) (via Football League World), Derby County are plotting a move for Christian Walton.
Christian Walton is currently on loan at Wigan Athletic from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, and it’s safe to say that he’s been a key player during his time at the DW Stadium.
Indeed, the Rams could definitely do with bringing in a young goalkeeper as Scott Carson turns 34 this year, while Kelle Roos’ contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Christian Walton, who is valued at £675k (by Transfermarkt), certainly has plenty of potential and is already starting to show signs of something special in the Championship, with a move to Derby County being a step up after operating on loan at Wigan in recent times.
Brighton already have Matt Ryan excelling in-between the sticks in the Premier League, so perhaps the Seagulls will let Walton leave permanently in the summer.
