Leeds United continue to suffer setback after setback this summer as Marcelo Bielsa’s efforts to improve his squad appear to continue to fail.
The Whites have only managed to bring Chelsea pairing Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker on season-long loan deals at the moment, despite having a long list of targets that the Argentine wants to bring to the club.
The likes of Matej Vydra and Abel Hernandez were thought to be close to joining the Elland Road outfit this summer, however, it has been revealed that their wage demands meant Leeds needed to turn their attention elsewhere.
According to reports in Uruguay, it looks as though the Whites have also failed to lure another free agent this summer, with Ovacion reporting that Diego Polenta has rejected the chance to join the club.
The 26-year-old is thought to have rejected a number of offers this summer from a number of clubs and Bielsa will now need to look at trying to tempt someone else to join his project at Elland Road.
Leeds just cannot catch a break when it comes to trying to convince players to join them this summer.
The club would have felt the appointment of Bielsa would have had a positive impact on the players that arrive, however, it so far has not worked in their favour.
Polenta would have been a great addition to the side if they were able to convince him to join, as he would have proved to have bolstered the defence up immediately.
