Dominic Iorfa became Steve Bruce’s first Sheffield Wednesday signing on what turned out to be a hectic transfer Deadline Day.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender joined the Hillsborough outfit on a three-and-a-half year contract.
However, it would seem that there was a chance that the 23-year-old may not have been an Owl come the end of the window.
According to a report by The Sheffield Star, Iorfa is believed to have had an offer from an MLS side, whilst the defender also revealed he had come close to joining another Championship outfit on loan.
“I was originally going to go to another team on loan in the Championship but once I knew about Wednesday’s interest I swayed more to this,” he said.
“I wanted to come here after finding out about the manager’s plans.
“I was delighted to come here and the fact it was a permanent as well means I can settle down and focus on my football.”
Sheffield Wednesday will have been pleased to have been able to land Iorfa on a permanent deal in the first place.
However, to hear that they had managed to beat off competition for the 23-year-old would have delighted them even further.
The defender’s career appeared to have stalled at Wolves, however, he will look to get back to playing regular football with The Owls and will want to produce some of the performances he knows he is capable of.
