Leeds United supporters have been somewhat subdued in the Transfer Tavern during the international break following their side’s struggle for form.
The Yorkshire giants sat top of the Championship after seven games of the campaign having won five and drawn the other two, yet they have since taken just three points out of a possible 12, including three successive away defeats.
That testing run has seen Thomas Christiansen’s men slip to fifth in the table, yet there may be some encouragement for our resident Leeds fans if a recent report from The Yorkshire Evening Post is anything to go by.
And that’s because they report that the Whites are on the verge of landing goalkeeper Kamil Miazek, who looks set to join the Under-23 squad at Elland Road.
The 21-year-old began his career at Dutch giants Feyenoord back in 2012 and spent four years in the Netherlands, albeit had to make-do with appearances for the Under-19 and Under-21 teams, and none for the senior squad.
Nonetheless, the Poland Under-19 international made the move back to his homeland last year to link up with second tier side Chojniczanka Chojnice, but still only managed four senior appearances, in which time he kept one clean sheet and conceded nine goals, before his release in the summer.
But it looks like he will pursue his career in England by reportedly making the move to Leeds, with the young shot-stopper having spent time with the club in recent weeks, and thus clearly impressing to reportedly earn himself a contract.
Although the deal is not yet done, it is seemingly only a matter of time before the 21-year-old makes the move to Elland Road.
Landlord’s verdict: Leeds United have been paying much attention to the youth structure of the club during the summer, with several players linking up with the development squad at Elland Road.
It’s clear that the Yorkshire giants are planning for both the present and indeed the future, with the long-term ambition clearly to re-establish as a Premier League club, and they look set to add another youngster to their ranks in the form of Polish goalkeeper Kamil Miazek.
The 21-year-old has been without a club since the summer but has been training with Leeds in recent times, and appears to have done enough to warrant a deal with the Championship outfit.
And with Felix Wiedwald’s form far from convincing in recent weeks, Miazek may even be able to challenge for a first team place over the course of the campaign.
