It’s been all change at Sunderland over the past couple of weeks as former Preston North End boss Simon Grayson has taken the reigns at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats’ fans lining the bar here in the Transfer Tavern aren’t hugely confident that a move back to the Premier League is going to come right away, with the club’s finances hugely limited following the relegation last season.
But the responsibility now lies with the former PNE manager to take the team forward and bring in the right players over the summer, even on a severely reduced budget.
And one player that he will now have at his disposal is Everton defender Tyias Browning, who has signed on a season-long loan deal, according to the club’s official website.
Browning, 23, will work with Grayson once again having spent the second half of last season on-loan at Preston North End, where he shone as the Lillywhites made a surprising late dash for the play-offs.
The England U21 international has made nine appearances for the Toffees since his debut in September 2014 and is widely tipped by the Toffees fans here in the pub as one of the brightest defenders in the Premier League.
Sunderland also secured the services of Brendon Galloway on a season-long deal on Wednesday.
