From Argentina: Leeds considering switch for Augusto Batalla

Leeds United have endured a difficult summer of frustration so far in regards to their transfer activity, with a number of their long-term targets looking unlikely to join them.

The Whites have had a long list of potential faces to arrive at the Elland Road outfit, however, a number of concerns have reared its ugly head for Marcelo Bielsa’s side over the course of the last couple of weeks.

The club had succeeded in bringing Chelsea’s Lewis Baker on loan, however, not much else has gone their way and are keen to try and bring a few more additions before the start of the upcoming Championship season.

One area Bielsa is keen on strengthening is at the goalkeeper position and according to reports in Argentina, it appears the manager has identified a player from his home nation.

AS are claiming that Leeds are interested in signing River Plate’s Augusto Batalla, however, they will face stiff competition from Olimpo to sign him.

The 22-year-old has come through the ranks at River and is thought to have turned down a move to Real Madrid back in 2015.

The Verdict:

The young goalkeeper has seen his playing time dwindle at the Argentine outfit and could be prepared to make a switch the Championship and join Bielsa’s revolution at Leeds.

However, with interest in Argentina for him, it could be another move that the Elland Road outfit may fail to make happen this summer.
