Heckingbottom faces battle behind the scenes at Leeds United to pull off transfer swoop

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting the squad to be improved this summer after an abysmal campaign, however, they could face some difficulty in bringing new recruits to Elland Road.

Paul Heckingbottom will be given his first transfer window since his arrival at Elland Road and it is reported that he will raid his old club for one of his first moves. According to a report in the Star, it is being claimed he is wanting to reunite with Barnsley’s Andy Yiadom, but he could face a challenge to sign him.

The report states that the manager will need to convince the Leeds chiefs that he would be a good addition, considering that they already have a number of defensive options at the club, despite the Ghana international being available for a free transfer.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Leeds fans in the Tavern will have seen what Yiadom can offer at the Championship level and would be desperate to see him arrive at Elland Road this summer. Heckingbottom has experienced working with him and a number of the locals will feel he could just slot straight into the side with minimal fuss.

The defender is a proven star at this level and would be a mistake not to sign, especially as he is available on a free transfer following the expiration of his current contract. A number of Premier League clubs have all monitored his situation, so it is thought the Whites cannot hold back for too long.
