Hull City have seen many of last season’s Premier League squad depart during the summer, much to the dismay of their ardent supporters here in the Transfer Tavern.
Last night’s 4-0 hammering of Bolton Wanderers did briefly put a smile back on their faces and the Tigers have had a pretty good start to life back in the Championship if truth be told.
Some more exciting news is on the agenda for the Hull faithful and one fan has spotted some news in today’s edition of The Telegraph that claims the club are about to announce the signing of Burton Albion performer Jackson Irvine.
The Australian international was in fine form last season – his first in English football – contributing 10 goals as the Brewers defied the odds and stayed in the Championship.
Irvine looks set to move to Burton’s Championship rivals for a fee of £1.2 million and represents a hammer blow to Burton’s chances of a second successive survival in the second tier.
One Hull fan is sat with a cold pint in the beer garden on this glorious day and he thinks that Irvine signing for the club should represent good business for the club, stating that he can’t wait to see the player in action.
The Landlord’s Verdict
The signing of Jackson Irvine for £1.2 million is incredibly good business for Hull City.
Irvine was one of the Championship’s standout midfielders last season and the Tigers are getting themselves a really exciting performer.
Burton will be sure to feel the loss of such an influential part of their team and this deal hampers their chances of staying in the division.
Hull City fans, would you welcome Irvine to the club? What do you know about his qualities on the pitch? Let us know in the comments below!!!
