Nottingham Forest will have their sights set firmly on securing a play-off spot under Aitor Karanka this season as they currently sit in seventh position.

Forest are unbeaten in their last four Championship fixtures but have only managed to win two of those games, so they'll be looking to produce a winning streak to really climb up the table. However, it appears as if the club had to wave goodbye to one of their players recently, as according to Nottingham Forest's official website, Jordan Smith has joined League One side Barnsley on an emergency loan.

Jordan Smith has joined Sky Bet League One side Barnsley on a seven-day emergency loan.

Barnsley were forced into drastic measures after suffering a goalkeeping crisis with first-choice Adam Davies away with Wales while Jack Walton has picked up a knee injury.

Smith has made just one appearance in all competitions for Forest under Aitor Karanka, so it's clear to see that a loan move is the right option, even if it is only for seven days.

THE VERDICT:

Jordan Smith has plenty of potential and has already been able to showcase his talents at the City Ground, but he has been offloaded on an emergency loan deal due to his lack of first team involvement.

The Englishman won't have much time to make a huge impact for Barnsley, but an impressive performance could open Aitor Karanka's eyes.
