Laurens De Bock set to return to Leeds - Championship

Are Leeds United intentionally making it more difficult for themselves to win promotion this season? It certainly seems that way at the moment as they failed to take advantage on Good Friday.

Regardless of whether they are playing their football at Elland Road in the Premier League or Championship next season, Marcelo Bielsa will need to strengthen his squad. The Argentine made a number of changes to his side when he joined them in the summer and it appears one of those men he looked to offload will be returning to the club.

What’s the News?

According to a report by Voetbal 24, Laurens De Bock has not seemed to have done enough for KV Oostende to turn his loan deal into a permanent switch at the end of the season.

He will return to the Whites in the summer, however, it is stated that he does not have a future at the club and will have to find a new one to join.

And, it is said the Belgian left-back still believes he can play for a top-flight club in his homeland, despite the disappointing spells at Leeds and Oostende.

The Verdict:

De Bock would have surely been hoping to put his miserable time at Leeds behind him and earn himself a permanent move to Oostende when he first joined them.

However, 18 appearances later, it appears the left-back will be back at square one and could be facing a rather difficult and anxious summer as it is unclear whether another club will be willing to take a chance on him after his poor showings.

It is no surprise that he does not have a future at Elland Road, especially if they do manage to finally get themselves back into the Premier League.

Barry Douglas, when fit, is a much better option than the Belgian, whilst Ezgjan Alioski has been pretty impressive when used in the position by Bielsa.

The fact that the manager decided to offload him as soon as he arrived last summer also speaks volumes and is unlikely to give him a second chance after hearing that his performances have not earned him a possible move away.

Going based on his displays for Oostende, the idea that he believes he can still play at the top level within his homeland is something that is quite hard to believe and might just be a fantasy of his.
