Leeds United are on the verge of completing their first permanent signing of the season as Marcelo Bielsa finally manages to start strengthening his squad.
The Whites are desperate to make additions to their team as they prepare for the upcoming Championship campaign, with expectations around the club that they should be pushing for promotion to the Premier League.
There would have been some doubts that the Elland Road outfit would have been able to achieve those aims, however, they may have just started to increase again as reports are suggesting they are on the verge of a huge, and unexpected, signing.
According to Sky Sports, Leeds have agreed to a fee with Wolverhampton Wanderers for full-back Barry Douglas. The player, who was widely regarded as one of the best in the Championship last season, is thought to be the subject of a £3million offer that could rise with potential add-ons.
He is now expected to undergo a medical and provided he can agree to personal terms, he could be a Whites player in the coming days.
Leeds will have made an extraordinary signing should Douglas agree to terms at Elland Road.
The wing-back was considered one of Wolves’ best players last season in their Championship-winning efforts and to get him for as little as £3m would be a brilliant piece of business for the Yorkshire outfit.
However, the club have thought to be in this position before with other targets and will want to finally be able to agree to personal terms, in order to allow Bielsa the chance to start reshaping his squad with solid additions.
