Leeds United returned back to the top of the Championship table on Wednesday night when they beat Ipswich Town at Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have had an impressive start, however, it does not appear as though the Argentine is quite comfortable with the squad at the moment.
It is understood that he could be looking to the January transfer market for new players, and reports from Goal suggest that he can reunite with one of his former players at Elland Road.
The 28-year-old’s, who played for Bielsa during their time together at Athletic Bilbao, current deal expires at the end of the season and the La Liga outfit could be tempted into selling him, rather than risk losing him for nothing.
Gomez would be an excellent attacking addition for Leeds in the winter as he would surely help with their efforts of trying to get promoted to the Premier League.
The set-piece specialist is in fine form this season, having netted three goals in nine games for Alaves and has helped them to third place in La Liga, earning himself a nomination for player of the month in September.
It remains to be seen if the Spanish outfit will let him go, whilst it could also be difficult for Bielsa to acquire him with other suitors likely to be interested, however, if they do, Leeds will have a real talent on their hands.
