Leeds considering deadline day swoop for Steven Caulker

Leeds United are still thought to be in the transfer market for reinforcements in defensive areas and it appears they have identified their latest target.

According to the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog, the Whites are considering a deadline day move for Dundee’s Steven Caulker.

It is understood that they will face competition from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers for the player, who could be available for a fee in the region of £1.5million.

The 26-year-old has plenty of experience at the Championship level after he spent time at Queens Park Rangers before his release last December.

He has since rediscovered himself at Dundee which has led to Leeds considering a move for the former Tottenham Hotspur man.

The Verdict:

Caulker should be considered a good addition for Leeds if they decided to go after the former England international.

Marcelo Bielsa is in desperate need to add defenders to his backline, especially in the centre, as his options are incredibly thin at the moment, with Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper as his only recognised stars.

The 26-year-old has knowledge of how the league works and could prove to be beneficial to some of the younger talents of the side, as his experience has helped those at Dundee already.
