Leeds ‘deeply interested’ in Yannick Bolasie

Will Leeds United win promotion to the Premier League automatically or will they have to go through the play-offs? That certainly appears to be the million-pound question at Elland Road as we head into the business end of the campaign.

The Whites are going to have to make additions to their squad in the summer, especially if they are playing their football in the top-flight next season, and it appears Marcelo Bielsa’s side are looking at someone who has plenty of experience.

What’s the News?

Het Laatste Nieuws are claiming Leeds are ‘deeply interested’ in bringing Everton’s Yannick Bolasie to Elland Road.

They claim the £12.6million-rated winger (per Transfermarkt) has no intentions of remaining with Anderlecht beyond his current loan spell, whilst the Jupiler League Pro club would find it difficult to raise the funds to sanction a permanent move.

The Verdict:

There is no doubt that Leeds will need to add some top-flight experience to their squad in the summer, however, whether Bolasie is the right man for the club to target would seriously have to be questioned.

Yes, he has plenty of knowledge of what playing in the Premier League entails and is likely to be available for a transfer in the summer as his future at Goodison Park under Marco Silva is surely in doubt.

However, is that enough of a reason for Bielsa to look to try and bring him to Elland Road? Going on his recent performances within in England, it would be hard to say a move would make sense.

The winger had a rather poor spell at Aston Villa earlier in the campaign and he looked far from his best, whilst he has never been able to recapture the form displayed during his time at Crystal Palace and Everton before his torrid injury.

Another question that could be asked is if he would fit in Bielsa’s squad immediately and make a positive difference. Bolasie’s work rate can leave plenty desired at times whilst there will be doubts if he can put in the effort the club would want from him running up and down the flanks.

Leeds fans, do you think Bolasie is good enough for the club to target? Would he fit in Bielsa’s system at Elland Road? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
