Leeds have scouts in attendance at Benfica-Ajax clash

Leeds United could be preparing to enter the transfer market in January as they may want to strengthen certain areas of their side.

And, according to Bruno Andrade, they could have set their sights on players that are currently competing in the Champions League.

The Goal journalist revealed on Twitter that the Whites are just one of a number of teams that had scouts in attendance at the Estadio da Luz to watch Benfica take on Ajax.

It remains unknown who Leeds are thought to have been monitoring in the game, although it would be a surprise to see players from either side join up with the Elland Road outfit.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team are currently sitting at the top of the Championship, however, many feel he will need to add to his squad for the final run-in as they have a number of concerns.

The Whites have struggled with injuries already this season, which has seen certain areas suffer as the Argentine has not had too many options to choose from.

The Verdict:

Leeds sending a scout to watch the Benfica-Ajax game is a surprise as the players playing for those two sides would likely be out of reach for the Championship outfit.

The game would have featured the club’s best players as both continued their efforts to try and qualify from the group and progress to the next stage.

However, football has the ability to throw up some real surprises and with Bielsa at the helm, Leeds could potentially pull off a coup that nobody sees coming.
