Leeds United are thought to be interested in one of Brazil’s best prospects, although they could face some tough competition to land him.
According to a report by TeamTALK, The Whites are claimed to be keen on Gabriel Martinelli, who is believed to have impressed with his performances.
The 17-year-old is currently playing for Ituano – a club that is currently being run by former Middlesbrough legend Juninho Paulista, who remains in contract with his previous club.
Along with their Championship rivals, it is understood that Leeds could also face competition from Premier League outfit Watford, whilst Blog Ora Bolas, via Goal Brazil, claim Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Flamengo, Palmeiras and Santos are all keen.
Martinelli, who is a forward, is already believed to command a transfer fee of around £10million and went through a period of evaluation at Manchester United in 2017, per Goal Brazil.
Marcelo Bielsa will understandably have a knowledge of the South American market and could be the type of player that Martinelli thrives under.
The Leeds’ boss has already shown that he can do in terms of taking youngsters to the next level and a player that has been dubbed as ‘Brazil’s best prospect’ could certainly live up to that name-tag under the Argentine.
However, with a fee of £10m being thought needed to land him and with competition from the likes of Watford, winning promotion to the Premier League will be needed to have any chance of landing him.
