Premier League football is certainly within Leeds United’s grasp next season as they sit in the driving seat for automatic promotion with just four games of the Championship campaign left to play.
However, should Elland Road be hosting top-flight football for the first time in 15 years, Marcelo Bielsa will have to make improvements to his squad and it appears to be casting his eye at some interesting talent within La Liga.
What’s the News?
According to a report by El Gol Digitial, Leeds are interested in Ruben Pardo this summer.
It is claimed that the Real Sociedad midfielder would be available for a transfer with the La Liga outfit not prepared to block a transfer after a disappointing campaign and Bielsa has apparently ‘set his sights’ on him.
Signing a midfielder should be something that the club should look at doing in the summer and Pardo could be an excellent coup for Leeds next season.
The 26-year-old is extremely versatile and can operate as a box-to-box player who is also able to provide the Whites with some creativity going forward.
Technically gifted, he has a brilliant eye for a long pass that can split opposition defences, whilst he is more than capable of taking shots from distance that can trouble goalkeepers.
A player of Pardo’s quality could be exactly what Bielsa needs to replace Samu Saiz next season and with Real Sociedad not believed to be prepared to stand in their way, then there may be no reason as to why Leeds could sign him on a cut-price fee.
Leeds fans, do you think Pardo would be a good addition at Elland Road in the summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
