It remains to be seen if Leeds United will be active in the transfer window this January as they continue their efforts to win promotion to the Premier League.
However, it appears they are moving quickly to tie down one of their highly-rated prospects to a new deal.
The 19-year-old has just six months left on his present contract, but the club have opened discussions with the extremely versatile wide man.
Gotts has not quite broken into Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team just yet, however, he appears to be on the edge of receiving his opportunity.
The teenager, who has impressed with his performances in the Under-23s, has been named on the substitutes bench for the games against Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.
Tying down Gotts to a new deal is a smart piece of business for Leeds and one that they should look to get done.
The versatile wide man certainly has huge amounts of potential and appears to have a bright future at Elland Road.
Gotts could potentially make his debut for the club this season, given all the injuries that Bielsa and his side have had to deal with.
