For the first time in a long while, Leeds United fans must be feeling that promotion to the Premier League is something that could be a reality for them in the next couple of months.
Marcelo Bielsa has worked wonders this season with his side, having had to utilise some of the youngsters in the team following a number of injuries.
The likes of Jack Clarke, Aapo Halme and Tyler Roberts have all had their opportunities within the first-team to impress and with youth appearing to be the future for the Elland Road outfit, it appears they could be looking to bring another talented teenager to the club.
What’s the News?
According to a report by The Daily Mail, Leeds are just one of a number of teams that have made enquiries regarding Birmingham City’s Ramello Mitchell.
The 16-year-old is a highly-rated striker and has been rather prolific in the Blues’ developmental sides this season, having hit a number of crucial goals.
However, as mentioned, Leeds are not the only side keen on snapping him up, with the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City, Manchester United, Southampton and Liverpool have all held an interest in recent times.
Mitchell has shown a lot of promise recently and it will not come as a surprise to Birmingham City that their teenage star has attracted plenty of interest, including Leeds.
The Whites have a knack of bringing young players to the academy ranks and helping them to reach their potential and progress and the 16-year-old could be one of the latest to follow in their footsteps.
Sam Dalby and Kun Temenuzhkov are just a couple of names that have joined the club at Thorp Arch in recent years and appear to be enjoying their development in Yorkshire.
Understandably, it would be sometime before Mitchell were ever to make his first-team debut, however, if he were to continue his fine form and join Leeds, Bielsa could look to play him as soon as he felt he was ready as the Argentine adopts a policy of ‘if they are good enough, they are old enough’.
But with all the Premier League interest surrounding him, including from local club Wolves, it could be a difficult ask for the Championship outfit to convince him he would be best at Elland Road.
Leeds fans, what do you make of the club making enquiries for Mitchell and their chances of bringing him to Elland Road? Join in with the discussion below by letting us know your thoughts.
