Leeds United could be dealt a transfer blow in the summer for one of their reported targets as a Premier League giant prepares to move in.
According to a report by Goal, Arsenal are thought to be readying a bid of £4million to bring Gabriel Martinelli to England.
TEAMtalk have claimed recently that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were interested in the Ituano midfielder, who is considered to be one of Brazil’s ‘best prospects’.
He has had trials in the past with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United, and although he did not do enough to earn a move at the time, it is believed many were impressed with what he was able to show.
It is understood that the Gunners have already signed off on a potential move for Martinelli and are looking to continue with their offer.
The 17-year-old is understood to be close to obtaining an Italian passport, which would make a move to Europe relatively easy and the need for a work permit redundant.
With the likes of Arsenal interested and seemingly making advanced moves for Martinelli, it could come as a transfer blow to Leeds and Bielsa.
The Whites have been keen to bring a number of hot talents to the club in recent years and the Brazilian would have certainly been one that the Elland Road outfit would have likely kept an eye on.
However, with a club like Arsenal in the frame, whether the Premier League hopefuls are able to compete remains to be seen.
